چکیده

In the recent years, generalizations of support vector methods for analyzing interval-valued data have been suggested in both the regression and classification contexts. Standard Support Vector methods for precise data formalize these statistical problems as optimization problems that can be based on various loss functions. In the case of Support Vector Regression (SVR), on which we focus here, the function that best describes the relationship between a response and some explanatory variables is derived as the solution of the minimization problem associated with the expectation of some function of the residual, which is called the risk functional. The key idea of SVR is that even when considering an infinite-dimensional space of arbitrary regression functions, given a finitedimensional data set, the function minimizing the risk can be represented as the finite weighted sum of kernel functions. This allows to practically determine the SVR estimate by solving a much simpler optimization problem, even in the case of nonlinear regression. In case that only interval-valued observations of the variables of interest are available, it has been suggested to minimize the minimal or maximal risk values that are compatible with the imprecise data, yielding precise SVR estimates on the basis of interval data. In this paper, we show that also in the case of an interval-valued response the optimal function can be represented as the finite weighted sum of kernel functions. Thus, the minimin and minimax SVR estimates can be obtained by minimizing the corresponding simplified expressions of the empirical lower and upper risks, respectively.

Support vector regression for prediction of gas reservoirs permeability

Reservoir permeability is a critical parameter for characterization of the hydrocarbon reservoirs. In fact, determination of permeability is a crucial task in reserve estimation, production and development. Traditional methods for permeability prediction are well log and core data analysis which are very expensive and time-consuming. Well log data is an alternative approach for prediction of pe...

Comparison of classic regression methods with neural network and support vector machine in classifying groundwater resources

In the present era, classification of data is one of the most important issues in various sciences in order to detect and predict events. In statistics, the traditional view of these classifications will be based on classic methods and statistical models such as logistic regression. In the present era, known as the era of explosion of information, in most cases, we are faced with data that c...

Support vector regression with random output variable and probabilistic constraints

Support Vector Regression (SVR) solves regression problems based on the concept of Support Vector Machine (SVM). In this paper, a new model of SVR with probabilistic constraints is proposed that any of output data and bias are considered the random variables with uniform probability functions. Using the new proposed method, the optimal hyperplane regression can be obtained by solving a quadrati...

On the Minimax Optimality of Block Thresholded Wavelets Estimators for ?-Mixing Process

We propose a wavelet based regression function estimator for the estimation of the regression function for a sequence of ?-missing random variables with a common one-dimensional probability density function. Some asymptotic properties of the proposed estimator based on block thresholding are investigated. It is found that the estimators achieve optimal minimax convergence rates over large class...
